Can we do any walking?
This depended with places you are visiting. No walking is allowed in National Parks whereas in reserve we arrange escorted nature walks depending with itinerary and lodges/camps you are using.
Can I get my hair/laundry done on tour / go to church or synagogue / post items home?

Yes. There is generally sufficient free time to incorporate all such functions, though we can't guarantee such in every lodge/hotel or camp. Your guide-is able to advise the most convenient point and assist in making relevant arrangements.
 
How do I make a booking?
See details on our terms and conditions. Booking is easy and can be made either directly with us here in Kenya or through one of our accredited agents.
If you want to take a day tour that has not been pre-booked through one of our agents, this can be paid for on the day. On confirmation of any booking we require a deposit to be sent and the rest 35 days to arrival date either via bank transfer or through credit card.

What happens if I have to cancel?
Please, see our  terms and conditions form which has details on cancellation policy We rarely have cancellations but if you do due to illness or any other reason,  we shall charge you only what is charged by hotels or lodges or camps BUT if no charges we shall refund everything less bank charges. We strongly recommend you get travel insurance to cover any cancellations.

How much can we bring with us?
This depends with the tour you are doing since if flying using scheduled flights from one park to the other, you have a maximum of 15kgs free and the rest is charged whereas if on any of tours by road, you can carry as much you can though we recommend average suitcases. Most important are warm clothes as morning and evenings are usually windy even if it’s not raining, sport or comfortable boots

How flexible are the daily itineraries? Can we request visits to special sites?
All tours are designed to be flexible and leave it to the driver guide and you to decide what you wish to do during the day though without change of accommodation unless with prior arrangements with the office.
Are the tours suitable for children?

Some are others not so. Please check with us if considering bringing children. If you' have children we can design a tour that will fit the aspirations of all age-groups travelling.
 
How much driving do we do?
We design tours so that there is as little wasted time as possible on the road and plenty to see while aboard. Inevitably, there are days when travelling between parks may involve more driving. Generally, a typical day's driving would be anywhere between 1 hour to a maximum 5 hours though there are at least 2 stops during the driver either at particular designated view points or at fuel stations or at gift shops where they have best shower rooms.

Does your vehicle have plenty of leg room?
Yes. Have sufficient room for passenger to stretch their legs. We also rotate places to ensure that no-one is sitting permanently in any particular seat.
 
What sort of vehicle do we travel in?
All transfers are done using air-conditioned vehicles ranging from saloon cars to 48 seater buses. During safari, we use safari 4x4 vehicles (land lovers or landclusers- jeeps) or safari mini buses all that carry a maximum of 9 passengers.
 
Can we get triple room accommodation?
Yes. Though most lodges/hotels/camps have a lot of double rooms, twin rooms, they always have a couple of triple rooms.
 
What's a 'twin' room?
A twin room is a room for two persons in which there will be two single beds. A 'double' room is for two persons sharing a bed.
 
What is a 'single supplement' referred to in the price of the tour?

All hotels, lodges and camps charge an additional amount for single occupancy even though the room is often much smaller than the standard room. The single supplement refers to the amount added to the standard tour price paid by persons sharing a twin or double room.

Can you arrange special dietary?
Yes, but please notify us in advance.
 
What is included in the quotes/price?
While sending each quote, we indicate what is included depending with what clients want. The main things depending with which tour you want are: Airport transfer, accommodation on Bed and Breakfast for city hotels and full board during safari in all lodges and camps (breakfast, lunch and dinner), game drives, flight where applicable, all park entry fees, Experienced English speaking guide (other languages available), mineral water and transport using either 4x4 vehicle (jeep – recommended) or safari mini bus.
 
What standard of accommodation do you use?
Being a member responsible travel and eco-tourism we select hotels, lodges and camps that meet environmentally set standards and wish have the interest of the local communities around them in heart thus giving them first priority for their job vacancies. Depending with your budget, we use 3 star to 5 star hotels and lodges and basic camps to luxury tented camps.
 
Do you only offer customized tours or have weekly scheduled departures?
Yes. We are delighted to design and operate special customized tours for families, friends traveling together, or any other group.
 
Are your tours guaranteed departures?
Though we specialize on tailor-made holidays as per client’s request, we have fixed departure dates every Tuesday and Friday so there's certain to be one that suits your time frame which are all guaranteed as long as 2 or more pax travel with no extra cost. Unlike most other tour operators, we specialize on personalized services thus we rarely mix clients from different areas or families in one vehicle unless they wish to or have booked any of our fixed departures which are based on group rates.
 
Once we've accepted your booking and you've paid your deposit, we promise that we won't cancel your tour unless forced to do so by circumstances beyond our control. See more details on our booking and cancellation policy

Does the company have an office in any other country than the Kenya?
Our main office is based in Mombasa and we have sub-offices with our representatives in Nairobi and Arusha in Tanzania. We also have a representative in Holland dealing with our Dutch market. However, we have a number of agents who are accredited to sell Lilac Adventures Limited holidays all over the world.
