What could be more exciting to a child than stroking a baby elephant, feeding a giraffe, watching lions rest after a meal, spotting your first leopard, learning how to make fire, rafting along a scenic river, accomplishing your first water-ski, catching your first fish, stalking game across the savannah with a warrior as your friend… these are the joys of an ‘old fashioned’ yet exciting childhood. Kenya is seen to be the best African destination for family holidays because of our welcome approach to children of all ages – with specific accommodation designed for families, the availability of child-minders, fun child-friendly activities (involving cultural interaction), and many other ways to welcome families to experience this incredible holiday of a lifetime together.
DAY 1: AMBOSELI NATIONAL PARK – TORTILIS CAMP On arrival into Jomo Kenyatta International Airport you will be met by a Lilac Adventures representative who will transfer you to Wilson Airport. You will take the 08h15 Safarilink flight to Amboseli. You will be collected from the airstrip and taken to Tortilis Camp, where you will be greeted by the beauty of Africa’s largest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro. Accommodation is booked for 3 nights on a full board basis. Amboseli is best known for its unrivalled views of Kilimanjaro, and its large elephant population. Tortilis Camp is named after the flat-topped, umbrella thorn tree, the Acacia Tortilis, and is situated in one of Amboseli's areas of Acacia Tortilis woodland, with the majestic backdrop of Africa's highest mountain, and the World’s highest free-standing mountain, snow-capped Kilimanjaro. Game drives, walks, sundowners and bush meals take place both inside the Park, and within the camp’s private 30,000 acre game concession. Tortilis Camp’s tents are all large and spacious, with elegant en suite bathrooms. There is a main lounge, bar and dining area, all exquisitely built with natural materials and thatched roofs, with magnificent views of Kilimanjaro
DAY 4: AMBOSELI – LEWA WILDLIFE CONSERVANCY – LEWA SAFARI CAMP After breakfast you will be transferred to the airstrip for the Safarilink scheduled flight to Wilson where you will connect with the scheduled flight to Lewa Downs departing at 10h20. Lewa Wildlife Conservancy is home to about 10% Kenya's black rhino population and the largest population of Grevy's zebra in the world. Lewa re-invests all the profits generated from tourism (including profits from Lewa Safari Camp) into its core programmes. By visiting Lewa, you help thousands of people from different cultures improve their lives, and give their children a future, at the same time as ensuring Africa's wildlife has a stable home
